Forward Movement

Gratitude and Thanks to Lois today as she taught many of the poses on the Junior III syllabus that I am assessing for this year! Forward Bends are usually not my friend, but I loved that she began with movement in some of the abdominal poses such as Supta Padangusthasana and Urdhva Prasarita Padasana. Always gets my hamstrings primed and mobility always leads toward some better stability.

Then we proceeded through almost every seated forward bend…leading toward Eka Pada Sirsasana (photo included, and I am sure I looked just like BKS … NOT!) But, there was some good insight in how to approach it in practice and great adjustment for the neck and head.

With a few Bhujapidasana and Titibhasana thrown in, it really was a fun class!

We ended with some great Pranayama. Made me happy I have been finishing up the Hatha Yoga Pradipika this week. She has been mentioning Udiyana Bandha quite often and the Pradipika covers the importance and power of this bandha extensively…”the lion that kills the elephant of death”…so I guess it is quite a powerful practice!

Just a couple more days…and I am sure that back bends are in our future…I’m ready!!!!
